Ishmael Odoom, a dedicated farmer and aspiring Assembly Member, known affectionately as “Obiaa Bedidi” (which translates to “for everyone”) has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility for the residents of Agona Asafo Electoral Areas. Through his tireless efforts, Odoom has successfully registered 500 individuals, including children, adults, and the elderly, under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The National Health Insurance Scheme is a government initiative aimed at providing affordable and quality healthcare to all Ghanaian citizens. It ensures that individuals have access to medical care without financial barriers, thereby promoting the well-being and overall health of the population.
Recognizing the importance of healthcare for all, Ishmael Odoom embarked on a mission to register as many residents as possible under the NHIS. His passion for community development and commitment to improving the lives of his fellow citizens inspired him to undertake this initiative.
Over the course of several weeks, Odoom, along with a team of dedicated volunteers, went door-to-door, engaging with families, and educating them about the benefits of the NHIS. They provided information on the scheme’s coverage, including access to medical consultations, medications, hospitalization, and other essential healthcare services.
Obiaa Bedidi and his team worked diligently, ensuring that no one was left behind. They paid special attention to children, the elderly, and vulnerable members of the community, who often face challenges in obtaining healthcare services.
The impact of Odoom’s efforts has been widely recognized by the community. The registered residents now have access to comprehensive healthcare, regardless of their age or socio-economic status. This milestone achievement not only promotes the overall well-being of the community but also contributes to the development of Agona Asafo Electoral Areas.
Speaking about his initiative, Odoom expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and participation of the community. He emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right and should be accessible to all, irrespective of their background. Odoom reiterated his commitment to continue advocating for improved healthcare services and encouraged all residents to take advantage of the NHIS.
