High life singer Akwaboah has revealed that he won’t follow trends because the legends didn’t follow trends and following trends is killing the Ghanaian music industry.
In recent news Akwaboah Jnr left Ghanaians confused over an article titled “Ghanaians don’t understand me, I know what I’m doing”.
Akwaboah has explained these words and threw more light on some thought provoking issues in the music industry.
In an interview with Dr. Cann on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra, he stated that he made that statement because he has been in the industry for a long period and he understands how things work.
“The Ghanaian music industry is a industry that they can applaud you for good music and all but if they don’t see anything extra your career starts to fade away, that’s why I said Ghanaians don’t understand me but I know what I’m doing”, he explained.
Akwaboah also added that when songs of legends in the high life sector are being played, there is a whole new era of excitement in people because when some of these songs were composed and released when we were very little but they have stood the test of time.
He further added that when names of these legends are mentioned they are applauded because then they didn’t follow trends but rather understood what they were doing.
