Ghanaian Filmmakers Mclord and Zoree Make Waves In Europe

In the realm of filmmaking, the importance of networking, skill enhancement, and collaboration cannot be overstated. Recently, Ghanaian filmmaker Mclord Ice Impraim and renowned producer and the chairman of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana for Greater Accra Region, Haruna Seidu Zoree embarked on an inspiring journey across Europe, attending film workshops, exhibitions, and engaging in fruitful conversations with fellow Ghanaian filmmakers and actors based in Europe. Supported by the National Film Authority (NFA), their trip was not only an opportunity to learn new skills on an international stage but also a chance to lay the groundwork for potential collaborations and workshops to uplift the Ghanaian film industry.

Mclord Ice Impraim and Haruna Seidu Zoree’s European adventure took them to various mesmerizing cities, including Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Freiburg, and Berlin. Each city offered a unique blend of culture, art, and creativity, serving as a constant source of inspiration for these talented filmmakers.

One of the highlights of their journey was attending the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, known as the biggest event of its kind. This exhibition provided a platform for them to showcase their work and connect with industry professionals from around the world. The exposure gained at IBC undoubtedly opened doors for potential collaborations and future projects.

During their trip, Mclord Ice and Haruna Seidu also had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with other Ghanaian filmmakers and actors based in Europe. These discussions centered around the potential for collaboration and the exchange of ideas, with the aim of bringing Ghanaian talents to a global audience. Such interactions are invaluable for fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within the Ghanaian film community.

Recognizing the importance of skill development, Mclord Ice and Haruna Seidu discussed plans for organizing workshops to train filmmakers and camera operators. These workshops would not only enhance technical expertise but also provide a platform for budding talents to showcase their skills. By investing in training and skill development, they aim to contribute to the growth and professionalization of the Ghanaian film industry.

The duo attributed the success of their trip to the support received from the National Film Authority (NFA). The NFA’s commitment to promoting and uplifting Ghanaian cinema played a crucial role in enabling these filmmakers to embark on their journey across Europe. With a dedicated focus on creating a robust film industry, the NFA, under the leadership of Juliet Yaa Asantwaa Asante, aims to establish a strong foundation for the Ghanaian film industry’s development.

The future of Ghanaian cinema looks promising. As filmmakers continue to push boundaries and explore new horizons, we can expect a vibrant and thriving film industry in Ghana.
